Fed Cuts Interest Rates Again & Lowers Business Loan Costs!

The Federal Reserve has just lowered the Federal Reserve Rate again by 0.25%! As a result, the Prime Rate is now 6.75% which follows the Federal Funds Rate (“Fed rate”) with an approximate 3% spread. That reduces costs for borrowing throughout the credit markets, and now buying a practice using a Prime-Based SBA 7(a) loan is now lower – not to mention somewhat easier to qualify.
That means that Prime-based rates for a business acquisition (without real estate), now range from a maximum of 9.75% (SBA 7a maximum spread is 3.0 over Prime for most loans) to as low as 8.75% or possibly lower. If you are purchasing Real Estate with your loan, you definitely qualify for a) longer terms and b) lower rates.
Most SBA lenders make 10-year loans for business acquisitions without real estate (Real Estate allows for lower rates with longer terms) using a standard spread of Prime + 3.0 (or 2.75)%.
